Based in Cornwall, Athena Rockets 'officially' formed in 2012 following the addition of drummer Chris Holmes - the origins of Athena Rockets hark back to a long-time songwriting partnership between bass player Paul Bowden and singer/guitarist Tony Simons. After many years of writing and recording, they decided to start looking for the ideal drummer to complete the sound they had been working on for so long.

Following a chance reply on a 'musician finder' website, they met Chris for the first time at a practice space in Stithians, and as soon as they started jamming, they realised they had finally found their match!

The Rockets have played venues all over the South West, and have been getting regular rotation on the BBC Introducing in Cornwall playlist. Highlights for 2015 included their first festival slots, including Lafrowda Festival and the BBC Introducing stage at Looe Music Festival. They have so far recorded and produced 2 EPs (available on Bandcamp and Soundcloud), and are working towards getting their first full length album into production this year.
